Johnson, Moore
I was born November 28, 1964 in Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia. I am married to Mrs. Oretha Johnson. My father was a Christian and my mother a devoted Muslim.
My mother vowed not to depart from her religion until her death. She placed me in the Muslim faith when I was a little child and I attended a Muslim school. I woke every morning to recite the Koran with the other boys. I grew to love the Muslim faith and thought there was no other religion.
My mother took me to a man who gave me a ring for protection and luck. The ring was also to give me favor with people. My mother never left me behind when she went to pray. The Imam loved me because of my devotion to the Muslim faith.
One day my father came and requested that I visit him and go to school. Of course, my mother did not agree because of her Muslim faith. However, I went with my father, still holding on to the ring and my Muslim belief. After some time, I became seriously ill and the doctors could not diagnose my illness.
One day a revival was called at the Bong Mines UPC. My uncle took me there, but I was very hesitant because I was not a Christian. I became very uncomfortable in my seat while other people rejoiced. An altar call was given and the preacher called for the sick to come. I told my uncle I did not want to go because 'I did not want to betray the trust and confidence my mother imposed in me, not to identify myself with the Christian religion.
My uncle pleaded with me, so I went to the altar. He prayed with me and asked me to lift my hands and call on the Name Jesus. It took me some time to say the name of Jesus. When I called on Jesus I received a shot of cold air from my head to my feet. Immediately I received my healing.
In 1976 I attended my first UPC conference on Zordee Mission and was baptized in Jesus' Name and filled with the Holy Ghost. I now pastor two churches.
